PAAB In-Person Hearings COVID-19 Protocols

Presiding Officer’s Discretion: The presiding officer retains the inherent discretion, within the context and parameters of PAAB’s agency rules, to hold the hearing in a manner in which he or she believes will promote personal safety for all participants. These considerations will guide the conduct of any hearing.

Hearing Room Location: In-person hearings will be held in PAAB’s hearing room - RM 1North, 1st Floor, Hoover State Office Building.

Attendees are advised to bring their own liquids and refreshments as drinking fountains and vending machines are not available.

Hearing Attendance: Attendees are encouraged to follow the most up-to-date guidance from the CDC related to COVID-19.

Prior to hearing, all parties must identify witnesses they propose to appear in person. Please indicate whether your witnesses will be testifying by telephone or in person on your witness list.

  1. Have you tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days?
  2. Have you recently been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19?
  3. Are you experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19 per CDC guidelines?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, please notify PAAB.

Post-Hearing Compliance: Hearing participants must immediately inform PAAB if they test positive for COVID-19 or experience symptoms consistent with COVID-19 within 14 days after hearing.

This protocol is intended to promote the safety and well-being of all attendees. Any questions regarding the protocol for a particular hearing should be directed to PAAB via email at paab@iowa.gov or by calling PAAB’s office at (515) 725-0338.
